Often, we get so excited about achieving the goals we set that we jump right into working on our plans. We forget to make God a part of it. It is only when our plans don’t work that we remember to seek God’s plan for us. Then we may start asking: Why? Why did you put me here, Lord? Why did it happen to me? Is this Your will for my life?

Certainly, God has a beautiful plan for you. But how would you know His plan?

Most of us struggle to see God’s plan because He does not speak to us when we ask Him. Blessed are those whom God revealed His plans thru dreams, visions, or clear manifestations of how He is leading their lives. But many feel that God is not answering or may have abandoned them.

The key to know God’s plan is to develop a relationship with Him. How? Here are three ways to cultivate a relationship with God and know His personal plans for you.

Pray– Communication is essential in every relationship. Since prayer links us to God, it builds and strengthens our relationship with Him. In prayer, you can ask for God’s wisdom to know what He has planned for you. James 1:5 calls us to pray.

“But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously.”

“Prayer is the best weapon we possess. It is the key that opens the heart of God”

St. Padre Pio

“The value of persistent prayer is not that God will hear us, but that we will finally hear God.”

William J. McGill

Read and study the Bible – Why should you read the bible when many find it boring, if not difficult to read and understand?

The Bible reveals who our God is, His character and ways, and His instructions for our daily living. God speaks to us thru His written words in the bible. Here are some biblical reasons to read the bible every day.

1. You will know God and develop your faith

“So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

2. His words give you direction

“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.”

Psalm 119:105

3. His words keep you from sin

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

Psalm 119:11

4. Teach you how to live

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living.” (GNT)

2 Timothy 3:16-17

But Jesus answered, “The scripture says, “Human beings cannot live on bread alone, but need every word that God speaks.” (GNT)

Matthew 4:4

5. Reading the bible helps you prosper in life

“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.”

Joshua 1:8

6. His words can save you

“So get rid of every filthy habit and all wicked conduct. Submit to God and accept every word that he plants in your hearts, which is able to save you.”

James 1:21

Go to church – Actively taking part in church activities brings you closer to God. Corporate worship and fellowship regain your focus on Christ Jesus our Lord.

A catholic that actively participates in the holy mass, and properly receives the Holy Eucharist is filled with God’s graces that intensify his unity with Christ.

“Every Holy Mass, heard with devotion, produces in our souls marvelous effects, abundant spiritual and material graces which we ourselves, do not know.”

St. Padre Pio

“Renew your faith by attending Holy Mass. Keep your mind focused on the mystery that is unfolding before your eyes. In your mind’s eye transport yourself to Calvary and meditate on the Victim who offers Himself to Divine Justice, paying the price of your redemption.”

St. Padre Pio

Joining prayer groups or church ministries also helps strengthen your relationship with God.

Trust in God’s Plan

Seeking God’s plan may be hard, but trusting in His plan for us is the hardest thing to do.

What God has in mind may differ from what you have. When it seems difficult to accept and understand what God has planned for you, should you still trust God?

Learning to trust in God’s plan will not go as smoothly as you want it to be. There will be challenges, struggles, pains, and sufferings.

When your ambitions and dreams did not come true, don’t lose heart, but trust that God has something better for you.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,” says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8-9

Losing someone you love brings so much pain. Failure and humiliation can be devastating. Why would God allow these things to happen?

In this world, God never promised us to be free from pain and suffering, but He promised to be with us through it all.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burnt, and flame will not scorch you.”

Isaiah 43:2

God has a perfect purpose for everything that happens. We create plans throughout our life, but these will only be fulfilled if they align with His will and are part of His plans for us.

“People may plan all kinds of things, but the Lord’s will is going to be done.”

Proverbs 19:21 (GNT)

Reasons to trust God’s plan

Let your heart be at peace by these 3 reasons to trust God’s plan.

1. God is faithful – God’s very nature is faithfulness. We can always put our trust in Him because He never leaves us.

“If we are faithless, he remains faithful; for he can’t deny himself.”

2 Timothy 2:13

“Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.”

Psalm 9:10

2. His love is unconditional and infinite – God’s love is beyond measure and unfailing.

“Lord your constant love reaches the heavens; your faithfulness extends to the skies. Your righteousness is towering like mountains; your justice is like the depths of the sea. People and animals are in your care. How precious, O god, is your constant love! We find protection under the shadow of your wings.” (GNT)

Psalms 36:5-7

3. He knows our needs – Even before we ask Him, God already knows our needs. And He intends to bless us more than we need. All we have to do is to seek His kingdom first and surrender to Him.

“My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:19

Friend, never doubt God’s plan for you. Trust Him because He knows what He is doing and what is best for you. He knows your past, your present and He can see your future. God’s plan and timing are always perfect.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
